UFO- No Heavy Petting The Pursuit Of Happiness- The Wonderful World Of... Dead Boys- Young, Loud & Snotty (One of the five best punk albums of all time. Almost 50 years later and I am still not tired of it.)
Small Faces- S/T (Decca, MONO) The Beatles- Help (U.K. Stereo) (The one that's actually better in stereo. And man, "Ticket To Ride?" Do NOT take this band for granted.)
Bobby Blue Bland- Two Steps From The Blues The Young Rascals- Collections (MONO)

Pink Floyd- Masters Of Rock Johnny Thunders- So Alone David Johansen- Live It Up (These three records saved an absolutely horrible fucking day! Thank you Syd, Johnny, David and all you reprobates who contributed to these fine recordings.)
The Blossoms- They Came To Sing (Parts Of Vols. 1 & 2) The Clash- S/T (U.K.) Dr. John- Frankie & Johnny Grace Jones- Warm Leatherette
The End- Introspection (Love this record. 1969 psychedelia, produced by Bill Wyman, with guest appearances by Nicky Hopkins, Charlie Watts and an uncredited Brian Jones, if you believe what you read.)
Lindsey Buckingham- Out Of The Cradle Todd Rundgren- Runt (Alternate April 1970 Master) The Replacements- Pleased To Meet Me Iggy Pop- Every Loser (Still not tired of this record.)
Steve Kuhn Trio- Three Waves (Love this record. Not your everyday piano trio record. Highly recommended.)
Dr. Alimantado- Love Is (Not quite as amazing as"Best Dressed Chicken," but damn good. A bit wacky, too, in a good way.)
Dave Bartholomew- Classics 1952-1955 Irma Thomas- Love Is The Foundation Peter Gabriel- Flotsam & Jetsam (Highlights) (More than a few great rarities and alternates here.)
XTC- Oranges & Lemons (That high piercing harmony on the last round of choruses in "Merely A Man" makes me ridiculously happy.)
Molecular Steve- S/T (The press releases for this record really excited me. "Jeff Lynne, pop hooks, chunky guitars, Meat Puppets." Nope. Complete bore. What a disappointment.)
Bob Marley & The Wailers- Best Of (Studio One) XTC- Skylarking Nick Curran & The Nightlifes- Doctor Velvet (What a party!)
The Pursuit Of Happiness- The Wonderful World Of... (Finally getting a vinyl release. Decided to revisit while I wait for my copy. This one holds up better, I think, than "One-Sided Story.") Henry Mancini- Peter Gunn (Thanks BBJ!)
Television- Marquee Moon The Chantels- Born In The Bronx: The Singles Collection, 1957-1962 The Beatles- Beatles For Sale (U.K. Stereo) The Beatles- Please Please Me (U.K. Stereo) Deep Purple- =1 Fantastic Cat- Now That's What I Call Fantastic Cat Gene Clark With The Gosdin Brothers (Stereo) v/a- Where The Girls Are (Personal Playlist) The Action- Highlights From Shadows & Reflections (Personal Playlist) Paul McCartney & Elvis Costello- Demos The Kinks- Give The People What They Want Johnny Guitar Watson- Ain't That A Bitch
v/a- Wreckerd Riot (Really excellent BBJ comp with a number of first timers for me.)
Dr. John- Gris Gris (Kevin Gray Stereo Master) Redd Kross- S/T (first half) (This wasn't killing me, so I gave up about half way through. Pretty average power pop/garage rock and I really dig these guys.)
Curtis Fuller- In New Orleans Jade Warrior- Last Autumn's Dream The La's- S/T The Prophets- King Tubby's Prophecies Of Dub The Style Council- Confessions Of A Pop Group Pete Townshend's Deep End- Face The Face Live Nick Curran & The Lowlifes- Reform School Girl Elton John - Honky Chateau George Harrison- Dark Horse

Chuck Prophet- Temple Beautiful The Heartbreakers- L.A.M.F.: The Found '77 Masters
Wings- Greatest (First track is "Another Day," not a Wings tune. Also, the bass playing in "Silly Love Songs" is not of this Earth.)
Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers- A Night In Tunisia (1961) Bruford- Feels Good To Me The Paragons- On The Beach Ornette Coleman- Chappaqua Suite (Pts. I & II) (A friend suggested I listen to this way back in 1982, years before I heard a note of Ornette. He said, "This is a really beautiful record." Needless to say, back in 1982, I wanted to kill him. When I started to "get" Ornette in the late 90's, I fell in love with this record, though I think "beautiful" is a stretch.") Electric Light Orchestra- Zoom (Lynne's finest. Period.) The Lemon Twigs- A Dream Is All We Know (This sounded great after a nice layoff.)
Harry Connick Jr.- Chanson du Vieux Carre (I had high hopes for this when it was released, but it disappointed me. It's been years so I thought I'd try again, as it really should be in my wheelhouse--instrumental takes on New Orleans classics. But it just doesn't work. It feels more like an Ellington big band suite, which is fine if it was advertised that way.)
Tyrone Washington- Natural Essence John Lennon- Mind Games (Raw Studio) Paul Weller- As Is Now (Been awhile for this one, and it is much better than I remembered it. Great record.)
Chas Sanford- Parallax View (five songs) (I had this when it was
first released in 1982 because I loved the opening track, "Surrender,"
which was a Song Of The Day the last week or so. But it is really dated,
like second rate Bryan Adams.)
Peter Tosh- The Toughest: The Coxsone Years- 1963-1966 The Edgar Winter Group- Shock Treatment Mike Viola- Electro De Perfecto (New record coming!)
Juliana Hatfield- Sings ELO Graham Gouldman- The Graham Gouldman Thing The Stairs- Weed Bus E.P.
The Rolling Stones- Through The Past Darkly (U.K. Stereo) (Hot tip for the 0.000012 people reading who also buy vinyl, there is a fairly new release of this record on colored vinyl. It's the U.K. tracklist, which is superior, and it is a very nice pressing. I grabbed one on Amazon for $13 or $14 for their "Prime sale." That is all.)
David Torkanowsky- Steppin' Out (One of my main New Orleans' guys and his only record as a leader. Highly recommended.)
Allen Toussaint- Storyville, 12/31/99 (Great show. Killer versions of "Get Out My Life, Woman" and "All These Things."
The Clovers- Dance Party The Orlons- All Their Hits & More (Every song a winner. Amazing record making from Philly.)
The Zombies- Odessey & Oracle Queen- Animal Crackers (Personal Playlist Of The Lame Years) Dead Boys- Young, Loud & Snotty Bad Brains- Rock For Light The Wild Magnolias- S/T
Herman Chin Loy- Aquarius Dub (Very strange dub record. My second spin. Still on the fence.)
iPod on Shuffle: Big Head- The Bluerunners Thread Your Needle- Dave Edmunds (Put On Your) Big People Shoes- Stanton Moore Police & Thieves- The Clash Postcard From Holland- Adrian Belew It Ain't No Use- The Meters Pump It Up- Elvis Costello Blue Blue Ocean- Echo & The Bunnymen Mr. Dino Koosh Rock- Lee "Scratch" Perry
John Lennon- Mind Games (The Elemental Mixes) (This, Disc 2, quite frankly, blew my mind.)
Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers- Like Someone In Love
Dr. John- Frankie & Johnny (Just released "lost" solo piano album from the early 80's. I expected this to be a barrel-scraper, but it is suprisingly wonderful. Great playing from the Dr.) Bob Dylan- Unreal Live (first half) (Fan compiled set of soundboard recordings from the "Real Live" tour that didn't make the "Real Live" album. Lots of good stuff.)
The Move- Looking On The Beatles- A Hard Day's Night (U.K. Stereo)
The Bobby Fuller Four- I Fought The Law (MONO) (This, I think, is their sole "proper" record. But it's a killer.)
John Lennon- Mind Games (The Elemental Mixes) (Had to go in again. Stunning.)
Ron Davies- Silent Song Through the Land (Always been intrigued by the amount of cover versions of "It Ain't Easy." It's my least favorite track on "Ziggy Stardust." Finally listened to the album. I don't get it.)
Elvis Costello & The Roots- Wise Up Ghost (This one sounded really good after a long layoff.)
Paul Weller- Whoosh Bee Gees- Main Course Bryan Ferry- Frantic
Nine Inch Nails- With Teeth (Never fails. His best. And an all time fave by anybody.)
Bob Marley & The Wailers- Catch A Fire (Sessions) Bob Marley & The Wailers- Live At The Paris Theatre London, 5/24/73 Todd Rundgren- State (11 years later and I finally don't hate this record. It hit the spot for some reason.)
The Dukes Of Stratosphear- 25 O'Clock
Iggy & The Stooges- Raw Power (1997 Iggy Remaster)
Fleetwood Mac- Then Play On (Original U.K.) Sparks- Two Hands, One Mouth: Live In Europe (Sal's Edit) Joe Cuba Sextet- Vagabundeando! (Hangin' Out) (Every one of these classic Fania or Tico Kevin Gray remasters is a killer.)
Bee Gees- This Is Where I Came In (Someone asked if I had ever heard this 2001 release. I hadn't. He said I should listen. I did. It's damn good!)
Syd Barrett- An Introduction To... The Beatles- Beatles For Sale (U.K. Stereo)
Paul McCartney- Driving Rain (I can't stress enough how I think most of Macca's output of the last 25 years has been unfairly dismissed. A couple of lemons here and there, but so many gems. The guy's a genius. You know?)
Peter Gabriel- Us (I'm calling it. It's his best.)
The Hollies- Butterfly (MONO) The Who- Tommy (Sal's Edit) (I never play this record. Only three other Who records I like less. But this edit made a world of difference. I really enjoyed it.) XTC- The Big Express (New interview in Shindig with Andy, Colin and Dave about this album. Definitely an underrated record.)
Graham Gouldman- I Have Notes Martin Newell- The Greatest Living Englishman
Charlie Rich- That's Rich (I can't get enough of this record. If you only own one Charlie Rich record, make it this one.)
Nick Drake- Bryter Layter Bobby Charles- S/T The Paragons w/Roslyn Sweat (This one never fails to elate me. Pure island bliss.)
The Stairs- Mexican R'n'B (Forgot how many more great songs there are other than "Weed Bus.") Mott The Hoople- Mott (Kevin Gray Remaster) (Definitive edition. This record never sounded better.) Blondie- S/T (This did not hold up.)
David Bowie- Earthling v/a- New Orleans, Home Of the Blues: Vol. 2 (This hit the spot. A half dozen from Irma, and a couple each from K-Doe, Benny Spellman and The Showmen, which featured General Norman Johnson who went to the top of the charts as lead singer of the Chairmen Of the Board.)
Egg- S/T (Probably should have waited to play this another day. Not a good follow-up after some New Orleans heat. And I dig this album.)
James Booker- Classified: Remixed & Expanded (This is the one. You may not realize it, but you need this. Here's three!)
DVS (Mike Dillon, John Vidacovich & James Singleton) w/Ashlin Parker- Maple Leaf, 7/4/24 (First Set) (An incredible first set! I watched the live stream---which I highly recommend for some amazing New Orleans performances---but loved this one so much, I converted the video to audio and listened again 24 hours later. Looking forward to set two.)
Willie Colon- La Gran Fuga Joe Bataan- Riot! Sandy Denny- Sandy The Move- Message From The Country Nilsson- Schmilsson
Motorhead- Lemmy Entertain You (Personal Playlist) (A possible Weekend Mix, if I am drunk enough to accept the backlash.)
Squeeze- Play Queen- Greatest Hits II
Johnny Thunders- So Alone (One of the all time great Saturday night records.)
The Sons Of Negus- Freedom Sounds T. Rex- The Slider Dub Specialist- Dub Store Special Willie Colon & Hector Lavoe- El Malo XTC- Personal Playlist Marshall Crenshaw- Life's Too Short John's Children- A Strange Affair (D1) Paul Weller- Illumination
Paul Williams- Someday Man Fats Domino- Legendary Masters Series Pete Townshend- White City: A Novel (I've read in two separate places this week that this record is considered his best, while "All The Best Cowboys..." comes in third after this and "Empty Glass." I haven't listened to "White City" in years, and it is very good. But not better than the other two.)
Laughing- Because It's True (Canadian power pop suggestion from a Canadian friend. Thanks JAYESSEMM. Not bad, but it didn't kill me.)
Kaleidoscope- Side Trips Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets- Walkabout
Peter Tosh- Equal Rights (Dub Versions) (The dub versions are better than the album proper. Check'em out.)
The Vibrators- Pure Mania Neil Diamond- Personal Playlist
Tom Waits-...For Me (Personal Playlist) Tom Petty- Highway Companion The New Mendicants- Into The Lime (Great record, but the Sandy Denny cover is worth the price of admission.)
John Lennon- Imagine George Harrison- Best Of Dark Horse 1976-1989 Fountains Of Wayne- S/T
Roxy Music- Manifesto (So underrated! I don't even think Bryan Ferry likes it. Top 5 Roxy!)
Grateful Dead- American Beauty David Hidalgo & Louie Perez- The Long Goodbye
The Jam- Setting Sons (Good record, but I think it's their weakest.) Lake Street Dive- Good Together (five songs) (This just didn't work for me.) Todd Rundgren- Liars Live (One of my very favorite tours getting a vinyl release in August. Digital already out.)
Frankie Siragusa- Goodbye My Love (Lost Songs Of the Beatles Covered & Rediscovered) (Yes it's a covers album AND it's a Beatles' covers album but this is NOT just a Beatles' covers album! Brilliant.)
The Jam- Sound Affects
The Jam- The Gift (This concludes listening to the entire Jam catalogue in a week.)
The Monkees- Personal Playlist Tammi Terrell- Irresistible
