Toots Hibbert!

Was in a mostly 80's rock mood yesterday which resulted in an exceptional day of listening, so here's the list.

The Sound - From The Lion's Mouth (Expanded Edition)
- the best of their excellent catalog of albums

The Replacements - Pleased To Meet Me (Expanded Edition)
- wonderful

The Church - El Momento Siguiente
- the second of their aoustic reworking albums is, like the first one, superior to most bands attempts at this.

U2 - Medium, Rare & Remastered
- compilation of b-sides from early 2000's

The Waterboys - 1985, disc 3
- interesting to hear the false starts that led to the amazing This Is The Sea album. The extended version (17:35!) of This Is The Sea that ends this disc features almost entirely different verses. Not sure I'll listen to much of this again, though.

The Only Ones - Remains (CD version)
- essential collection of non-album cuts. The CD version is missing their perfect cover of Small Faces "My Way of Giving". Features Glenn Tilbrook on backing vocals on one song if memory serves.

Van Morrison - Moondance
- How do you follow up Astral Weeks? With this gem! One of the great first sides.

The Go-Betweens - A Suicide Note To Satan Rarities Vol 4 1982-84 (from the G is for Go-Betweens box)
- continuing the theme of out-takes, b-sides, etc. Interesting, made me want to play the studio albums.

Paul
I need to hear that Only Ones/Tilbrook cover!
And yes, that expanded 'Mats record is a killer.

Sal, Tilbrook isn’t part of the cover version, but is backing vocalist on one song and plays guitar on three others. Here’s the discogs link
