African Head Charge- A Trip To Bolgatanga (2023)- ****
(Played this a lot when it was first released. Still sounds great after giving it a rest.)
Jonathan Batiste Trio- Live In New York: At The Rubin Museum (2006)- ****
(Years before becoming a late night bandleader turned genuine pop star, Batiste, still called Jonathan, recorded this stunning live trio date. This is how I first saw him perform in New Orleans and it is still what I prefer.)
Iggy Pop- The Idiot (1977)- ****
Jennifer Lara- Studio One Presents... (1981) ****
(This song below sounds like a Frankenstein monster of three different hits, one of which is definitely "Our Day Will Come." Can't figure out what else? It's a gorgeous track, in any event.)
The Flat Five- Another World (2020) - ****
David Bowie- Diamond Dogs (Plus Bonus Tracks, 1974)- ****
Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes- Epic (Personal Playlist)- ****
(One of my best friends is really good friends with Johnny. And I have seen my friend tell Johnny to his face how much he thinks he and the Jukes suck. Johnny always laughs. But my friend means it. I never got the disdain for this band. How can you love rock and roll and not love a band that keeps that spirit alive as well as the Jukes?)
The Pranks- Floobie (1997) - ****
(I know nothing about this band. Our friend Randy passed it on to me a few years ago and I love it. Very Cheap Trick. Take two!)

Southside’s Messin’ With The Blues from 2001 is killer! Into The Harbor 2005 and Pills And Ammo 2010 both solid!
Late to the party here, but I love SSJ and the Jukes. Sad that he's retired but glad I got to see twice. And unless he's lost something in the last few years, he's still got it, cause he was in excellent voice when I saw him a few years ago.
