The Impressions- The Young Mod's Forgotten Story- ****
The Impressions- This Is My Country- ****
(An amazing one-two punch! Essential listening.)

The Kinks- Are The Village Green Preservation Society (Stereo)- ****
Miles Davis- Blue Haze- ***1/2
De La Soul- 3 Feet High & Rising- ***1/2
Al Green- I'm Still In Love With You- ****

The Iguanas- Plastic Silver 9-Volt Heart- ****
(My favorite record by one of my favorite New Orleans bands.)

Pete Shelley- XL-1- ***
(An okay record, but I have always loved both the A and B side of the first single, 'Telephone Operator/If You Ask Me.")

Living Colour- Vivid- ****1/2
(I saw Corey Glover this past Friday with his Soul Experience side project and it was a total blast. Full on soul revue with covers of Sly, Bobby Womack, The Impressions, Al Green...you get the picture. Anyway, had to play this classic. Almost 40 years and 40 memories later and "Vivid" still kicks my ass. Go see Corey Glover's Soul Experience if he comes to your town.)

Kaiser Chiefs- Employment (Anniversary Edition)- ****
(20 years? Aren't the Kaiser Chiefs a new band? This record still holds up and the bonus material has more than a few keepers.)

The Heartbreakers- L.A.M.F.: The Found '77 Masters- ****
(A record with so much Saturday night seeping out of its grooves, it needs Sunday night to finish things up.)

Village Green is the best album I listened to yesterday. And I didn't even listen to it;

The Impressions during the Mayfield years in the 60's reflected the soul of the culture change in America. They joined a host of soul and Motown groups that influenced the future of music.

Apropos of nothing: the latest from Steve Earle (and Reckless Kelly) ‘Bad Girls’ https://youtu.be/m0eaQIrL1cA?si=SZgU4aew50WoLgC6
Not too far from Guitar Town. Steve can do no wrong! :)

P.S. Yesterday’s cover of Radiohead’s ‘Black Star’ by Gillian Welch was mesmerizing. Well done you for the share! Thanks :)

Good one, hpunch! :) Re KC being a new band. I know EXACTLY how you feel. And The Impressions: I loved Keep on Pushing but got distracted before digging deeper. I'm on it!
