I just listened to the Big Express, which I hadn't in a while. I was happy to hear it, but I was reminded why I hadn't played it in a number of years.
I'm with ya on that one. It seems that all of my favorite XTC albums are the ones long time fans like least, and vice versa. I don't love Black Sea, Drums & Wires and Oranges & Lemons. I like them. All good records. But I'll take Nonsuch, Wasp Star, Skylarking, Apple Venus and English Settlement over all of them.
I'd nudge Oranges and Lemons into your second column. Besides Skylarking, it's the XTC album I've listened to the most, I think. And I'd also include Psonic Psunspots into that column--that album tickles me to no end.
