The Termites- Do The Rock Steady (1967)- ***1/2
Olive Jones- For Mary (2026)- ****
(She is the real deal.)
David Bowie- The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust...Half Speed Master (1972/2022)- ****
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band- Framed (1973)-****
(I think this might be the very first time I listened to this band. This was great! Like early Bon Scott AC/DC trying to be glam.)
The Plugz- Better Luck (1981)- ****
Close Enemies- S/T (2026)- ***1/2
Robin Trower- Live!: 2026 Remix (1976/2026)- ***1/2
(Always loved this record, and now it's been expanded to offer the full set, and resequenced to how it was played live. Problem is the remix, which to my ears, sounds somewhat distorted and harsh. Still, it is peak Trower, and it has one of my favorite drum solos, courtesy of Bill Lordan.)
Etta James- Deep In The Night (1978)- ****
("Take It To The Limit" is a tour de force. And so is this, an Elton John b-side written by Kiki Dee.)
The Jam- Sound Affects (1980)- ***1/2
Cheap Trick- Heaven Tonight (1978)- ****

I love the Sensational Alex Harvey Band! Keep Listening! The Impossible Dream and Tomorrow Belongs To Me (along with the Live album) are my favorites!
That Etta James looks great- onto the list it goes.
A Half Speed Master of Ziggy Stardust? "Myyyyyyyyyy brrrraaaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnnnnn...huuuuuuuuurrrrrrtttttsss...aaaaaaaa.....looooooooottttt." Wait, am I not understanding this?
"Wait, am I not understanding this?"
What, exactly?
Come to think of it, I don't believe I've ever heard any of Alex Harvey's music either. Seen his records in the racks for decades but never took the plunge. Kinda surprised with your resume, you never dove in either. Great stuff! Something about his voice reminds me of McCartney.
BTW, Joe Pernice has a brand new album, Sunny, I Was Wrong, with Aimee Mann and Jimmy Webb guesting.
Randy
Like you, I'd see the records in the dollar bins. Turned off by the mime makeup. Some of the album covers looked cheap. I had no clue. Looking forward to a deep dive.
And yeah, I have that Pernice ready to go.
Half speed Bowie. Haha.
Okay. Still don't see the joke here.
It's like you're playing it at 16 rpm.
DOH! I def did not read it that way. Okay, it is funny!
The Etta James is great. I’m going to have to blog about her. Maybe the most underrated artist of her time, and there’s strong competition.
Thanks for rescuing my dumb joke, Cleveland Jeff!
