Curious as to what's on your Elton playlist...
Grow Some Funk Of Your Own
Levon
Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters
Rock Me When He's Gone
Blues For Baby & Me
I've Seen The Saucers
Idol
Ballad Of Danny Bailey
Chameleon
Amoreena
Rocket Man
Texan Love Song
We All Fall In Love Sometimes
Curtains
It would have gotten four stars, but I used the 7 minute "Rock Me When He's Gone" instead of the 5 minute and it was a speed bump in sequencing.
Nice mix! Grow Some Funk would be a great opener for a playlist!
He opened with "Grow Some Funk" the first time I saw him 1976. The band just grooved to that opening riff for minutes. I can still hear it.
Awesome! He opened with Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding when I first saw him in 82. Just phenomenal. Your playlist inspired me to come up with my own. Not 100% sure on the sequencing, but pretty sure on the songs. This overlooks some of his 80s singles, which I actually like (just not the whole albums).
Captain Fantastic
Have Mercy on the Criminal
Grey Seal
Levon
Into the Old Man's Shoes
Burn Down the Mission
Take Me to the Pilot
Philadelphia Freedom
I Guess That’s Why They Call it the Blues
Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters
We All Fall in Love Sometimes
High Flying Bird
I'll plug yours in and give it a spin.
Recently I made a Ten By Elton John playlist for my amusement. No attempt at anything, just songs I like.
Burn Down The Mission
Honky Cat
Between Seventeen and Twenty
Blues For Baby And Me
Bitter Fingers
Tambourine
The Captain And The Kid
I Want Love
Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters
Dark Diamond
Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters is the only one on all three lists. Not surprising really, such a great song.
By the way, neither of you have anything from this century. Elton’s made a real comeback after the 80s and 90s.
"Peachtree Road" is in my Top 5 Eltons of all time. I just prefer listening to it in its entirety.
Fair enough. Cleveland Jeff
I'm also a big fan of Peachtree Road and The Diving Board. I could probably do a playlist for each decade.
