John Cale- Slow Dazzle (1975)- ****1/2
("Paris 1919" is such a rich listen, every single time, I forget just how great this record is. Actually, though Cale is not mainstream enough to be included in that "five great records in a row" game, an argument could be made for "The Academy In Peril," "Paris 1919," "Fear," "Slow Dazzle" and "Helen Of Troy.")
Joe Higgs- Life Of Contradiction (1975)- ****1/2
(I can't stress enough just how great this record is.)

Those five Cale albums are all wonderful. I'll add Sabotage/Live to that group as a favorite, but I suppose many others would not. It's nothing like the previous, is gloriously over the top, and the first of Cale's that I heard/bought.
I listened to Somewhere North Of Nashville, Inyo, and Sunday Love, the first track from Twilight Hours last night for the first time. I liked "Somewhere" a lot, "Inyo" seemed a bit inconsistent, but parts were great (Adelita, The Lost Charro), a found Sunday Love to be excellent.

I knew people would talk of great album runs, but never knew that it was an actual game with rules. Lol!

(The author mentions Guided By Voices, Yo La Tengo, and Animal Collective. Would like to believe the John Cale has at least that level of recognition. World’s funny though.)
If we consider Church of Anthrax as a collab/side project, it can be excluded and Vintage Violence may begin its rightful place at the head of the run. #justice
Where is the reissue of Richard X. Heyman’s 1991 power pop classic Hey Man!? Really seems like an album that vinyl releases and RSD were made for. Thanks for your musical diary - much to enjoy today. :)
