5/5/25

Annie Laurie- Since I Fell For You: The Essential...-***1/2
(Reading John Broven's book about New Orleans R&B. The two paragraphs on Annie Lauren sent me here. Solid, but I like others more.)

Fats Domino- This Is Fats Domino-****
Yes- Live At The Rainbow, 12/16/72-****

The Cure- Mixed Up-***
(The extended versions made me say out loud to no one, "GET ON WITH IT!" Not a fan of remixes.)

Paul McCartney & Elvis Costello- Flowers In The Dirt (demos)- ****1/2
Suzanne Vega- Flying With Angels- ****
The Soft Boys- A Can Of Bees-***1/2

Brian Eno & Karl Hyde- Someday World- ****1/2
(Forgot how much I enjoyed this record.)

Public Image- S/T (U.S. Mix)- **1/2
(I think I'm over this record.)

In the mid 80's I saw Simple Minds. For some reason, they would do 10 minute versions of 4 minute songs with just a lot of repeated choruses or semi-ambient noodling instead of killer improvisations. I was hoping they'd GET ON WITH IT or play some songs from their early albums. Sadly that didn't happen.
