Smith and Browning Bryant were two artists that Toussaint produced records for, and was genuinely shocked that they were not bigger sellers for them. On the other hand, the lp he did for John Mayall, he felt was not going to do anything and he was unfortunately correct.

I listened to John Doe's Fables In A Foreign Land yesterday and liked it a lot. Will have to give A Year In The Wilderness a spin as I don't recall doing that previously.

The Browning Bryant has its moments. I never liked the Mayall. This William Smith though is terrific.

That Mayall lp was a complete train wreck. Browning was just too young at the time. Not sure what happened with Smith. Maybe the timing was just off - '77 was the dawn of disco.
