I love most of the work from Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros. Lots of smart songs that don't sound like anyone else.
Yesterday, I went back to the CD collection and got very happily stuck in the F section.
Bill Frisell - East/West (Disc 1 = West)
one of his best
French Frith Kaiser Thompson - Invisible Means
Mostly engaging but Henry Kaiser is an acquired taste. He seems to bring out the weird in Richard Thompson.
Lowell Fulson - The Complete Chess Masters (Disc 1)
If you haven't played this in a while, Reconsider Baby!
Michael Franti and Spearhead - Stay Human
Good songs marred by too many "radio" interludes
Fountains of Wayne - Utopia Parkway
I like this album, but the vocals often sounded mechincal yesterday, especially on the verses.
Robert Forster - Calling From A Country Phone
Sublime set from a Go-Between.
Foo Fighters - S/T
Rocking fun!
Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Fabulosos Calavera
Nino Diamante may be the best example of jazz/rock/ska ever recorded. Of course, there's not too much competition.
Ibrahim Ferrer - S/T
Sounded really good after too long since the last spin.
Feist - Metals
Good, but not her best.
- Paul in DK
I'm putting that Lowell on my to-do list.
