Abdullah Ibrahim- Water From An Ancient Well-****
(Title track is one of the most beautiful melodies ever written.)
Nara Leao- Nara (1967)- ****
Max Romeo & The Upsetters- War Ina Babylon- ***1/2
Lady Gaga- Mayhem-****
(I'm really digging this record. Needs an edit, maybe from 14 songs to 10, and then I think you'd have a really smart pop record, with influences ranging from Bowie and Nine Inch Nails to 70's disco and 80's new wave. Great stuff.)
Mike Farris- The Sound Of Muscle Shoals-**1/2
(A for effort, but ultimately the material is cliche-ridden and weak.)
daryl hall AND John FUCKING OATES- Bigger Than Both Of Us-****1/2
Nine Inch Nails- Broken + 7"- ****1/2
New York Dolls- 'Cause I Sez So-****
NRBQ- In:Frequencies-****

Abdullah Ibrahim - you’re absolutely right. Can’t say I have heard Bigger Than The Both Of Us, but I’m expecting it to be Hilarious with a capital H.

"but I’m expecting it to be Hilarious with a capital H."
Why would you think that? It's a brilliant record.
From your fonts and capitals, at least how it appears on my mobile browser.

Oh! No no. That's just me riffing on the whole recent debacle between the two, with Daryl saying it's never been a partnership. Hall has never had a hit without Oates, and Oates is particularly prevalent and solid on this album. I didn't expect anyone to "get it," but I didn't think it would read as the album being hilarious.
