1/13/25

Henry Butler/Charlie Hunter/Karl Denson/Stanton Moore- High Sierra, 9/6/98
O.V. Wright- A Nickel & A Nail-and-Ace Of Spades

Jorge Ben Jor- A Tãbua de Esmeralda
(#6 on Rolling Stone's Top 100 Brazilian Records list and I totally understand why. Fantastic!)

Roxy Music- Hammersmith Odeon, 5/18/79
Nazz- S/T (MONO)
Patti Smith- Personal Playlist
Trio Mocoto- S/T
Marvin Gaye- Let's Get It On (Extras, Demos, Alts.)

Os Tincoãs- S/T (1973)
(My new favorite record. Sublime.)

Os Tincoãs- S/T (1977)
The Alan Bown!- S/T (Robert Palmer, not Jess Roden)

Love Sculpture- Forms & Feelings
(A far cry from what Dave Edmunds became, but excellent nonetheless. The version of "You Can't Catch me" is borderline hardcore!!)

So far, everything I've heard from Jorge Ben is fantastic. Samba Esquerra Novo, Jorge Ben, A Tabua Esmeralda and Africa Brasil (which may be my favorite since it's the album w "Umbabarauma," the first track...off that david bryne compilation.

By the way, how are you listening to the 1973 Os Tincoãs album? YouTube? I don't see it on Amazon Music.

pmac left a comment on the SOTW week post about a private blog he runs called Kingston To Rio. Invite only, but it's full of Brazilian music. I downloaded all four Os Tincoas records, not to mention a few dozen others.
