Serge Gainsbourg- Aux Armes Et Caetera
(Had no idea this existed, as I am not a Serge fan. I discovered it on a reggae blog. Lots of Jamiacan heavy hitters backing up Gainsbourg. Sounds exactly like you think it would sound. Not bad.)

The Coward Brothers- S/T

(As an ardent non-supporter of most things T- Bone Burnett is involved in, I fully expected to hate this record. But first pass was a lot of fun. Looking forward to a second spin. Costello's voice, by the way, much better in the studio than it has been live.)

Boston- S/T (Kevin Gray Master)

The Doors- All You Need (Personal Playlist)

(Once a year I try to get into the Doors, mostly because I really like Side One of their debut. So I made a playlist with most of Side One and a few other songs I thought I liked. But I lose patience so quickly. I really can't listen to Jim Morrison for more than a song or two without saying out loud to no one, "Jim, just shut the fuck up!")

Lou Reed- Street Hassle
Alice Cooper- Muscle Of Love (Alternate Version)
The Young Rascals- Collections (Stereo)
Siouxsie & The Banshees- Peepshow
Ray Barretto- Barretto-Power
Pete Townshend- All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes

The Who- Live At Leeds
(Sounds even better with all 12 inserts!)

Todd Rundgren- The Bayou, D.C., 7/24/95

A college roommate first played me Lou Reed- Street Hassle more than 40 years ago. The album wasn't totally life-changing, but every time I hear "I Wanna Be Black", I have a great laugh all over again.

As for The Doors, I feel the same way, some great singles, but any of the albums is a hard slog.

I'm really enjoying the latest Paul Kelly.
