2/23/24

Fairport Convention- S/T
(Judy Dyble is no Sandy Denny, still I really like this record, though this new pressing is disappointing. Pops and crackles right out of the seal.)

Cannonball Adderly- Somethin' Else
(Classic BN reissue courtesy of Kevin Gray. Just beautfiul.)

David Torn- Cloud About Mercury
(On a rec from Paul In DK. Nice record. Good companion to, though different than "Upper Extremities." Def a keeper. Thanks Paul!)

Sam Carty & The Astronauts- International Slackness (four songs)
(New to me. 1981 reggae release, suggested by a blog I check occasionally. Generic, upbeat reggae. Meh.)

Hurray For The Riff- The Past Is Still Alive (five songs)
(A lot of hype surrounding Alynda Segarra. This is album number 6? Or 7? It all sounds the same to me. Your basic type of Americana that never gets anywhere. Yawn.)

Black Sabbath- Mob Rules
("Heaven & Hell" was a tough act to follow, but this record is strong.)

Robyn Hitchcock- Shufflemania!
(Been awhile. Still holds up. Great, great record.)

The Black Crowes- Croweology (Records One & Two)
(Full band, acoustic re-records of hits, deep cuts--"Cold Boy Smile!"-- and covers. Some in their extended live version arrangements. Excellent! Can't wait for the new one.)

Professor Longhair- Rock 'N' Roll Gumbo
(Yea you right! When all else fails...FESS!)
