Who is singing on Four Last Songs? For decades now, I play that when in mourning or heading to a funeral, usually as sung by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. (Hilariously, I just read that when she was on the BBC radio show Desert Island Discs to pick the recordings she would take to a desert island, she named SEVEN of her own recordings and an eighth of Karajan conducting because she worked with him!)
Gundula Janowitz with Herbert Von Karajan, 1973.
