I've been on a Pogues kick recently. Listened to Rum, Sodomy & the Lash twice in a row this week. Time well spent.
A shambolic, sometimes exhilarating concert in Atlanta was my one experience of the Pogues...exactly as I hoped and imagined. But my most vivid memory is the ride up and back from college to ATL in which my friend had a CD of Everything But The Girl's Idlewild which I'd looked at maybe 30 times in the record store and considered buying just on the cover and intriguing song titles but $15 was a lot of money (still is) and when she realized I'd never heard anything by them it was immediately played and I was bowled over and a fan for life. In many ways the polar opposite to the Pogues but I never really liked listening to the band I was going to see on the way to a concert so it was perfect.
