Second run through on Trixies this morning. It’s growing on me. I think I’m going to like it.
Also, there should be a damn apostrophe in there.
Only four albums? Were you tired? Busy? Spring cleaning? Reading a fucking BOOK? Come on! :)
Wow, forgot about Dirt Track Date... Will have to look for my cd
Well, I lost track of when you posted the download but thanks for the Dub Specialist album Dub Store Special from 1974. I enjoyed it a lot.
I thought I was the only one irked by the lack of an apostrophe.;-)
Squeeze's "Trixies" is a major disappointment. It started promising enough with "What More
Can I Say" and "You get the Feeling". Then it was a number of bad or indifferent tunes. The only saving grace was some tasty guitar work from Glenn Tilbrook on a couple of tunes. They lost me completely until "It's Over" and lost me again with "The Jaguars" which is just flaccid and uninspired. The 2 "Trixies ..." were just nothing. I hope the album they're working on is much better. I'll think it could be much worse.
My initial pass didn't do much for me. Aside from recognizing Tilbrook's voice, it felt like the least Squeeze sounding record in their catalogue. But like Bill, it started growing on me. My third pass was with headphones and that's when it hit. I don't think it's a "great" album, but I also don't think Difford/Tilbrook are capable of putting out a bad record. I dig it.
Country Joe McDonald of Feel Like Fixin' To Die Rag fame passed away today. RIP
