Matteo Monico- Alfred Hitchcock: A Portrait In Piano (2025)- ***1/2
Steve Howe- Signals Crossed (2025)- **
(Three song Dylan covers E.P., that I was hoping would be just Howe on guitar. But there's an awful vocalist and backing singers, and it's just lousy.)
Ornette Coleman- Tomorrow Is the Question (1959)- ***1/2
John Cale- Honi Soit (1981)- ****
(I love this record, but it's just a few great tracks short to rival the classic Island Records run. Still what is good, is pretty damn great.)
John Waite- Temple Bar (1995)- ****
(One of my favorite rock and roll voices, though this record doesn't rock. It's pretty heavy and I still find these ballads incredibly effective.)
Buddy & Julie Miller- Written In Chalk (2009)- ***
Dead Boys- Young, Loud & Snotty (1977)- ****
The Pursuit Of Happiness- Love Junk (1988)- ****
(These two records are perfect. Sure things. Constant sources of pleasure.)

For a long while now, I’ve been playing a small game each day: Visit ‘Now Playing’ first, review you listening, and guess which made your ‘The Best Thing I Listened To Yesterday’ highlight. I run at about 80% success - there are days its a roll of the dice. There are days where it’s a gimme.
If you’d not graded yesterday’s experience and I went by title alone, I would’ve narrowed it down to your last 3 knowing how much you’ve celebrated all three. Mildly surprised that Written in Chalk wasn’t a better experience for you yesterday but, sometimes even the greatest album isn’t exactly what scratches that day’s itch. :)
Thanks for Honi Soit and Temple Bar: 2 albums that were a million miles away from what I would’ve listened to today. Both sounded awesome!
Any love for Ignition? Listening now - I was one of the few people who bought the vinyl upon release. Been a long time. Sounding really good to me this morning. :)
First, I actually have "Ignition" on this weekend's pile to be listened to.
Second, "Written In Chalk" starts and ends BIG! But I get lost in the middle.
