Burning Spear- Hail H.I.M. (1980)- ***1/2

Elvis Costello & The Attractions- Punch The Clock (1983)- ****
(This needs a trim, but it still holds up, I think.)

The Pleasure Fair- S/T (1967)- **1/2
Appaloosa-S/T (1969)- *
*
(Carrying over yesterday's chamber pop mini binge, these two were disappointments. Pleasure Fair had its moments, but Appaloosa was horrible. Four songs in and I had enough.)

The Bunch- Rock On (1972)- ***1/2

Key- Fit Me In (1978)- ****
(I don't play this enough. Forgotten pop gem so obviously inspired by Paul McCartney, Emitt Rhodes.)

Paul McCartney- Driving Rain (2001)- ****
(Two days in a row! I am loving this album.)

Difford & Tilbrook- Friars Club, Aylesbury: 9/22/84- ***1/2

Mouth Almighty popped up on your iPod shuffle yesterday, and that's probably the song that I think about the most from Punch The Clock. Especially the lines:
"So I threw away the rose and held on to the thorn
Crawling round with my crooner's cufflinks and my calling card cologne"
The alliteration in that second line there is something else and paints quite a picture. I still like and listen to this album, but the production wears on me at times.

I agree with you, re: production. It's what I was thinking about as I listened. Sometimes, Steve's piano lines drown out Elvis's vocals. Pete, who is a drum god, changes beats three times in one song on a few, and that really gets on my nerves. It's way too busy and there are too many unneccesary horns. But I still enjoyed it after laying off of it for so long.
