Alvin Robinson- 1969: Personal Playlist (2025)- ****
Michigan & Smiley- Sugar Daddy (1983) -***
(Dated dancehall rhythms underneath relentless dual toasting, this was fun for a little while.)
Pete Townshend- NYC, 9/10/95- ****
(Fantastic, mostly acoustic set that opens with a sweet "The Kids Are Alright" featuring Paul Simon on harmony vocals and closes with a Paul, Pete and Annie Lennox vocal on "You Can Call Me Al," that also features a Wynton Marsalis trumpet solo. Fun, unique set.)
Pink Floyd- The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (1967, Stereo)- ****
(I never play the stereo version, but this was pretty great, too. You need both.)
Preservation Hall Jazz Band w/Various Artists- Preservation (2010)- ****
(An all timer from New Orleans, not a bad track in the bunch, not even the Brandi Carlile track. The Richie Havens track never fails to hit me.)
David Bowie- The Next Day (2013)- ****
(Still holding up. Top 10 Bowie.)
Alex Chilton- 1970 (1996)- ***1/2
The La's- S/T (1991)- ****
(A perfect Side One and a near-perfect Side Two.)
Tommy James & The Shondells- 40 Years: 1966-2006, Personal Edit (2008/2025)- ***1/2
Squeeze- Argybargy (1980)- ****

The Townshend set sounds great. Piper is about as perfect a debut as can be.
