1/6/25

Renaissance- Prologue
Miles Davis- Birth Of The Cool

Kara Jackson- Why Does The Earth Give Us People To Love? (four songs)
(Suggested by Leyla McCalla who raved about it. Not for me. Half sung, half spoken, all very offbeat. I've no patience.)

Lady Blackbird- Slang Spirituals

Gruff Rhys- Sadness Sets Me Free
(His voice can be a turn off, but this record is so wonderfully musical, it doesn't matter so much.)

Tetrack- Let's Get Started
(Another reggae rec from my fellow Kingston traveler Chris. This one not as thrilling as the More Relation album.)

Tucker Zimmerman- Ten Songs (three songs)

(A favorite of David Bowie. I made it through three of the ten songs.)

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers- Long After Dark: Found Tracks
Grateful Dead- Blues For Allah
Gang Of Four- Solid Gold

Killing Joke- S/T
(I still love this record even though Jaz Coleman came into NYCD drunk as a skunk and threatened to kill me if I didn’t take off the “fucking crap music” I was listening to. If memory serves, it was the Raspberries.)

The Cure- Boys Don't Cry
The Cars- Vroom (Personal Playlist)

I have the Lady Blackbird queued up for a first spin. The Petty has some very good tracks.

Earlier today, I gave Self a first listen and it blew me away. Much better than how the review I read described it. https://fernandoperdomo.bandcamp.com/album/self
