Not sure if you’ve heard The Band Feel’s EP. Released late 2024. Sounds if Black Crowes were fronted by Chris Cornell occasionally maybe? Lol! I’ve been enjoying it very much.

Appreciate you and your efforts to make the day brighter. Enjoy your weekend, sir. :)

Goodbye Jumbo is always five stars for me. And to defend the hits compilation Best In Show. Yes, it's a terrible hits compilation since half the tracks come from Goodbye Jumbo and it mostly ignores Wallinger's last three albums. It's a terrible overview of the band's arc. BUT purely on a track by track basis, it's so exceptional I can't help thinking it's great too. There, I said it. Bad overview, great songs. Dumb choices, but wonderful. And yeah, people should just go listen to Goodbye Jumbo.

Originally released in certain territories (and not his native United Kingdom) to promote a tour in 2007, Best in Show was rather cynically designed in sequence with World Party's most popular tracks on digital music shops. Hard to argue with what is technically the "most popular" tracks, but I can't argue with you that it's a terriblle overview. It's being released on vinyl with 5 extra tracks, so that will help even things out.

As for my four star rating of World Party, just like the "Best Thing I Listened To" feature on Burning Wood, these ratings aren't about the albums, but about how the records affected me while listening on any given day. "Goodbye Jumbo" is Wallinger's masterpiece, a 5-star record for sure. But I've always had an issue with Side Two. "Take It Up," and "Show Me To The Top" are weak and yesterday, they got on my nerves, hence the 4 stars. Do I think the Heartbreakers record is a better record than "Goodbye Jumbo?" No. But it sure sounded good loud! So much fun, hence the 5-stars.
