The Woggles- Time Has Come
(I've seen the name for years but don't think I had ever heard a note. They will be opening for Southern Culture On The Skids in September, so I thought I'd check out the new one. Pretty average garage rock. Nothing really.)
The Rascals- See
("Search And Nearness" is much better.)
Irma Thomas- Time Is On My Side: The Best Of...
Kirsty MacColl- Free World: The Best Of 1979-2000
The Beatles- Get Back(1969 Glyn Johns Mix)
Happy & Artie Traum- Double Back
(First time, on a suggestion from a friend in the wake of Happy Traum's passing. Was not expecting what I heard. I thought it would be dated Greenwich Village, folky precious. But this was more like solo Nesmith and even the Dead at times. Great record.)
T. Rex- Tanx
Chet Atkins- It's A Guitar World

Looking forward to your thoughts on their Columbia albums.
Jumping in here to rave about today's Pretenders/Small Faces cover. New to me, and quite delicious.
Have you seen the Paul McCartney photo exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum?
The Woggles are better live than on most of their recordings )downright excellentin fact), but since Flesh hammer (aka Jeff Walls, formerly of Guadalcanal Diary) passed away a couple of years ago, they are not quite as strong. I think Rock 'n Roll Backlash is a very good album.
@Guy Incognito
I am hearing two different lead vocalists on this Woggles record. One guy is great and one guy really isn't, and it's those songs sung by the guy who sounds like an overemoting actor that turned me off. Has that always been their M.O.?
Except for an occasional one-off song, the Mighty Manfred is the singer. He's the band leader, formed the group in Athens in the late 80's. You can hear him on SiriusXM weekdays on Little Steven's Underground Garage channel during the mid-day. He does a podcast for the channel as well called Coolest Conversations. He's a great guy and better front man than singer. He's very entertaining on stage
