Willie Nelson- Countryman (2005)- ***1/2
(All Music's review makes this record sound unlistenable. It's very listenable with more than a few excellent tracks.)
Midlake- A Bridge Too Far (2025)- ***1/2
(Lovely new record.)
Traffic- Mr. Fantasy: U.S. Stereo (1967)- ****
Linton Kwesi Johnson- Bass Culture (1980)- ****
Bonzo Dog Band- The Doughnut In Granny's Greenhouse (1968)- ***
David Bowie- Montreux Jazz Fest, 2002 (2025)- ****
(I've been avoiding this because of its length, but I went in finally, as I needed a long soundtrack while working on something else. I am really glad I did. A great recording of an inspired performance! Highly recommended.)
James Hunter- The Hard Way (2008)- ****
The Slits- Cut (1979)- ****
Queen- The Game (1980- ****

That live Bowie set from Montreux from the recent I Can't Give Everything Away box set blew me away. I don't know what I expected, but I was overwhelmed.
There are many great live recordings from Montreux Jazz Festival. Will give the Bowie set a spin. I liked Bass Culture yesterday.
Have you heard the single from James Hunter Six with Van Morrison? It’s very good. https://youtu.be/DZHnyKWcubs

I had a fun time shopping your Discogs site yesterday, sir. Those King Sunny Ade albums are just wonderful. The Byrne/Eno collaboration had put those in my wheelhouse. Peter Tosh’s Bush Doctor was the first reggae album i bought, based solely upon his appearance on SNL with Jagger (I didnt’ know then that the single was a Motown cover). Excited to listen to the Kevin Gray cut of Jailbreak. And the ABBA double-album singles collection is killer. Thanks again for the good time, sir. Curious to see what else you’ll post this week. Have a wonderful day! Cheer :)
I was dreading listening to the 4LP Montreaux show but found it to be one of the best sounding and best performed concert recordings I've ever heard. Bowie and the band perform stellar versions of his best known tunes plus songs from the much under appreciated "Heathen". And if that wasn't enough they then gonthrough the entire "Low" album, one of Bowie's best. I'm envious of everyone that attended this concert. Do not pass this one up.

New James Hunter in January! I liked the Midlake too.
