7/18/25

Bud Powell- The Amazing Bud Powell (Vol. 1)- ****

Joe Walsh- There Goes The Neighborhood- ****
(This is a really nice Joe record.)

Robin Trower- Los Angeles, 3/16/75- ***1/2

X-Ray Spex- Germ Free Adolescents- ****
(A punk essential. I just read that Ringo gave this to his son Zak as a recommendation. Ringo gets cooler every day.)

Stanton Moore- Groove Alchemy- ****
(My second fave of the trio trilogy. Hot!)

Danzig- S/T- ***1/2
Hawksley Workman- (Last Night We Were) The Delicious Wolves- ****

Joe Gibbs & The Professionals- African Dun: Chapter Four- ***
(First three chapters are much better.)

John Zorn & Dave Lombardo- Memories, Dreams & Reflections- ***1/2
(It's what you'd expect from Zorn. It's a noisy, nerve-shredding free for all. But sometimes it feels good when played loud. Good stuff, though not for the faint of heart. This hit the spot today.)

Lou Reed- The Blue Mask- ****

Thanks for this! Over the past 24 hours, I’ve enjoyed all of your four-star experience albums and it was an absolute treat. The Blue Mask, with Robert Quine, was my first Lou Reed album and felt like an excellent entry point then and only sounds better now decades later. Grateful for your introduction and celebration of all things Stanton Moore - Groove Alchemy is wonderful. (Note: I still visit the Maple Leaf Bar YouTube channel to check out the jams. Fun!!!). Poly Styrene, Joe Walsh, and Hawksley Workman were also great listens. I’ve Bud Powell on this morning, and it is amazing! First listen and I thank you again, sir! OG Bebop is an excellent start to a summer Sunday morning. And what an ensemble.
Thanks for all you do, Sal! :)

Cast- All Change (1995)- *** (I remembered why I didn't remember this record. It's kinda flat. Nothing terrible, but no great songs ...
