‘V/A- Hackney Diamonds In The Rough (Personal Playlist)‘ - more than a little curious what this might be. Lol!

When a new record by a favorite artist is released, a friend of mine likes to take that record apart and create a playlist with other artists. He says it helps him "digest" the new material as it plays along with the familiar.
So, I thought I'd try it.
Happy to say, the "Hackney Diamonds" material still sounded great all mixed up and mixed in.

Interesting (and clever). Is this playlist found with your others?
Listening to the album again now. To me, there’s an intimacy that I haven’t found in a Stones album since ‘Tattoo You’ - not a critical judgement of the others since I admit to not giving them anywhere near the same attention. But, my intentional listen to the others and published reviews didn’t encourage it (life may have factored in as it does). But, I love do ‘Hackney Diamonds’!
The little Easter eggs found throughout that call back albums like ‘Black and Blue’, ‘Let It Bleed’, even ‘Bridges To Babylon’ are brilliant!
Googled the producer Andrew Watt https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Watt_(record_producer)
Reviewing the other albums he produced, the closest to what he’s done here might be Eddie Vedder’s Earthling - and that’s a great album!
Thanks for all you do, Sal! May you have an outstanding weekend!

Wonder why Darryl Jones’ didn’t make the final album? I read that he participated in the sessions.

Yeah, I really loved Vedder's "Earthling." I am hoping the tracks Watt did with McCartney see the light of the day soon.

As for the playlist, this is it. I've since deleted it from my Amazon playlists, but you can piece it together.

Watch That Man- David Bowie
Whole Wide World- Stones
Get Close- Stones
Watching The River Flow- Dylan
Rain When I Die- Alice In Chains
Bite My Head Off- Stones
Tell Me Straight- Stones
New Song- The Who
Love In Action- Utopia
Depending On You- Stones
Mess It Up- Stones
Live By The Sword- Stones
F.I.N.E.- Aerosmith
No Expectations- Stones
Dreamy Skies- Stones
Merely A Man- XTC
Sweet Black Angel- Stones

A Girl Like You- The Smithereens
Rolling Stone Blues- Stones

No Darryl Jones and no Chuck Leavell.
A friend of mine suggested that their absence is why the album rocks so hard.

Appreciate the playlist share! Without the Stones rhythm section, is this more Mick backed by the X-pensive Winos? Gaga instead of Dash? Lol! I do love how clear the guitar interplay is on this album. Thanks again!

So the playlist to absorb a new album is kind of like if tracks were being played on an AM rock station! Pity you're not deejaying online so we could listen in as in Jamaica. I almost signed up for that Spotify radio thing people could do but they've pulled the plug, I think.

P.S. What is Frank Sinatra -- Frankie? I searched online before asking but no luck.

P.P.S. Slightly Sinatra-related comment. I am coming to believe no singer recorded more great studio albums than Ella Fitzgerald (defined as really great or stone cold classics that would be on my best of the year list for each year). If you include live albums, it's not even close. I imagine some instrumentalists like Miles Davis might have released more, but not even sure of that.

This is "Frankie"

Just a comp of Columbia hits that I think plays well.

Thx! That's an unusual collection of songs. I don't follow the logic at all. But it's all good stuff -- his Columbia years are usually forgotten now but his vocals are just so pillowy soft and dreamy. Plus I dig the cover. It's my favorite cover this week (after the new album Jonny by The Drums).
