Any revelations on the Tom Waits reissues? I assume they hold up and are as raggedly enjoyable as ever.

The revelations on the Tom Waits "vinyl" reissues are that they have been crap. I've had to return four of the five for being filthy out of the sleeve, with both "Swordfish" and "Bone Machine" playing with repeated noise and static. Really crappy job.

"Rain Dogs" has always been my favorite, but revisiting "Bone Machine" for the first time in years has given the former a run for its money. Also, "Black Rider" is much better than I remember it being. All told, I do think I prefer these five records to the first five, though "Closing Time" is still absolutely brilliant.
