What have I been listening to? Why Stanley Turrentine's Jubilee Shout! Which I loved and which apparently sat in a vault for decades, though no explanation as to why that I could find. And Duke Ellington & John Coltrane's S/T album, which I liked but did not immediately love (felt a little split personality and didn't quite gel on first listen) though it's apparently considered top-notch and might well improve on a second listen. Thanks for asking!
I agree the Duke/Coltrane sounds a bit forced, but I think there are moments of absolute beauty and as a whole, a far better record than the Duke/Coleman Hawkins pairing.
