I was all ready to sing hosannas about the new Dylan. I usually love the bootleg series. And I really wanted to hear Empire Burlesque in a new way. Needless to say, some great stuff, like that 11min song near the end. But in general it did NOT make me radically rethink the 1980s, or the songs on tap. It's no Shadow Kingdom! At least on first blush.
Did you listen to all 5 discs? I have only heard the 2 LP highlights. My Third Man 4 LP set arrives this week. I loved the highlights. I thought the tracks from Empire Burlesque were superior, just because they sound better.
"Infidels" and "Shot Of Love" are in my Top Ten, so that might help matters. But so far, I am more excited by this Bootleg Series than most.
Umm uhh I THOUGHT I had heard it all but i guess on Spotify you only get 25 tracks and there are more....
